• Certificates have been granted to companies and individuals intending to export products.

National Biosafety Authority (NBA) says it has issued over 90 certificates for non -Genetically Modified products to various companies in the country from January 2021 to date.
Authority Communications Officer Sandra Lombe told Money FM News in an interview that this is compared to four certificates issued during the same period in 2020.
Ms. Lombe stated that the certificates have been given to companies and individuals intending to export products from Zambia, requiring certification to confirm that the products are non-genetically modified.
“In the same period last year only four non GM certificates were issued. Two companies have had products which may contain GMOs and genetically modified products seized from January to date,” Ms. Lombe said.
She added that the seized products from one company have been destroyed while the genetically modified products from another company are yet to be destroyed.
