Chisamba Town Council says it has successfully completed some projects amounting to over K814, 210 under the 2020 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation.

Council Public Relations Officer Nakubiana Shabongo revealed to Money FM News that the bulk of the 2020 CDF allocation has gone towards five projects under 5 wards in Chisamba Constituency, adding that the Council is currently monitoring and inspecting the remaining projects which are nearly complete.

She cited some of the projects that have been completed as a 1X3 Classroom Block at Kalangwa Primary School at a cost of K 73, 158, Construction of a teacher’s house at Kachangwa Primary School at K190 842, and 1X3 Classroom Block at Chikonkomene Primary School at a cost of K235 000.

“Others are Completion of a Health Post at K90, 000 and Construction of a 1X2 CRB at Mapulanga Community School at K225, 210. Furthermore, the council recently approved 9 pressing projects under the 2021 CDF allocation amounting to 1.6 million as recommended by the CDF Committee.”

“Some of the notable projects include construction of a 1×2 CRB at Masaka Community School and renovation of teachers’ houses at Kaminembe Primary School among others,” Ms. Shabongo said.

She stated that this is in line with the CDF Act which provides for the management, disbursement, utilization and accountability of the fund enshrined in the constitution of Zambia.

Ms. Shabongo said the local authority is elated with the recent elevation of the CDF from K1.6 million to K 25.7 million in this year’s national budget.

She further disclosed that the local authority engaged the public in all the 12 wards of the Chisamba Constituency to ensure transparency, accountability and equity in the management, disbursement and utilization of resources.

“CDF plays a significant role in equitable distribution of national development as it controls imbalances in development. We would like to call for more citizen participation so that no one is left out.”

“Since inception CDF has ironed out development imbalances as it will allow local authorities improve the quality of life in communities through decent education, health, water and agriculture among other things,” she noted.
