ZP actively investigating abduction of mobile money agent

• Pamela Chisumpa was initially reported to have gone missing by her sister on 16th April, 2022.
• The victim was at her mobile money booth when two male persons went to her and pretended to be customers wanting to transact money.
• On April 15th, 2022 the boyfriend received a call from the victim’s phone demanding for a ransom of K15, 000 for her release.

Inspector General of Police says police are actively investigating the matter involving the alleged abduction of a mobile money agent in Lusaka.
In a statement, Lemmy Kajoba said 22 year old Pamela Chisumpa was initially reported to have gone missing by her sister on 16th April, 2022, who stated that on April 13, 2022 at about 14:00 hours at Shoprite trading area along Cairo road, the victim was at her mobile money booth when two male persons went to her stall and pretended to be customers wanting to transact money.
Mr. Kajoba explained that later on, the duo was seen moving with her across Cairo Road and that was the last time she was seen and investigations instituted so far are indicating that on April 15th, 2022 the boyfriend received a call from the victim’s phone demanding for a ransom of K15, 000 for her freedom.
He said the Police have put in place all resources and are working with other collaborating partners to secure a possible safe release from the allegedly abductors.
“We would like to inform the public that this type of crime is alien to our country. The Zambia Police takes protection of women against any form of crime very serious and we have put in all our resources and are working with other collaborating partners to secure a possible safe release from the allegedly abductors.”
“We are calling on the general citizenry to fully cooperative with us as we work round the clock to have her released from the allegedly abductors,” Mr. Kajoba said.
A video is has gone viral on social media showing the mobile money agent asking her family to send the K15, 000 ransom the alleged abductors are asking for in exchange for her freedom.
