Tech Minister calls for Egyptian ICT investment in Zambia

• Zambia remains as an attractive investment platform and most ideal digital hub for investment.
• Other areas of investment includes digital services and capacity building of skills.
• Some nations in terms of cyber security are on top and digitizing almost every area.

Technology and Science Minister has called for Egyptian information communication and technology (ICT) investment in Zambia as a way of establishing robust digital infrastructure connectivity platform built on high speed and reliable broad band network.

Pitching for Zambia at the 7th Digital Nation Conference in Cairo Egypt, Felix Mutati noted as Egypt tap investments in Africa, Zambia remains as an attractive investment platform and most ideal digital hub for investment uniquely positioned and surrounded by eight countries in the southern region.

Mr. Mutati revealed Zambia is considering and looking at five percent attainment of the ICT opportunities by the year 2030 in consideration of economic transformation and securing change in the lives of the people of Zambia.

He stated that other areas of investment includes digital services and capacity building of skills.

The Minister said the participation of Zambia at the conference was to share experiences and create key investments from Egypt into Zambia.

“We come here so that at the end of the day we must begin to collaborate with each other, we must begin to invest in each other. It is also equally important for Zambia that we create a platform that will attract investment from Egypt into Zambia,” he said.

And speaking earlier, Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade Dr. Nevin Gamea said it was an important platform for Zambia to engage and learn in the area of ICT in order to comprehensively understand the digital space, implement at and cope up with today’s digital world.

She said some nations in terms of cyber security are on top and digitizing almost every area hence it was important to tap into modernization.
