UNITUZ nods 30,496 teacher recruitment

• This recruitment has surely reduced the number of unemployed trained teachers in the country.
• The union will continue to support government in uplifting the education standards.
• The union urges newly recruited teachers to report to their respective duty stations

United Teacher’s Union of Zambia (UNITUZ) says the recruitment of 30,496 teachers has reduced the number of unemployed trained teachers in the country.
Union President Paul Chipimo tells Money FM News that the union is looking forward to seeing Ministry of Education settle the recruited teachers as quickly as possible within the given timeframe to help deal with the high teacher – pupil ratio.
Mr. Chipimo has also urged newly recruited teachers to report to their respective duty stations as guided by Teaching Service Commission.
“UNITUZ is happy that the New Dawn Government has fulfilled the promise to recruit 30,496 teachers across the country. Congratulations to government; congratulations to the new teachers and welcome to the teaching profession. “
“The union will continue to support government in uplifting the education standards and the welfare of teachers,” Mr. Chipimo said.
He further advised those who were left out not to despair but continue to believe and engage in productive enterprises while waiting for the next teacher recruitment.
30,496 teachers have been recruited and names of the successful applicants were published on Friday 15th July, 2022.
The recruitment of 30,000 teachers with an addition of 496 teachers has been done in line with the staffing needs analysis of teachers and the funds appropriated to this recruitment exercise.
