Zambia National Marketeers Association (ZANAMACA) has advised Marketeers to take advantage of the K21.9 million Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC)’s marketeers’ loan scheme to boost their businesses.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association President Mupila Kameya said this is worth commending that government under CEEC has recognized the informal sector through the provision of loans.
Mr. Kameya stated that the loan scheme will go a long way in reducing income inequality and alleviate poverty in the country.
He urged Government to work with stakeholders to identify credible marketeers that will be able to pay back the loans after borrowing.
“ZANAMACA wants to partner with the ministry and Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission on other programmes that respond to other plights of the informal economy, “he said.
Mr. Kameya reiterated the importance of marketeers, traders and small scale farmers in the informal economy whose demography is diverse.
“The 21.9 million initial seed capital support to the 3,800,000 marketeers across the country by CEEC will help the marketeers business recover and grow,” Mr Kameya added.
He thanked the Government for the timely initiative.
Last Friday, Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) unveiled seven empowerment products valued at K365 million out of which K21.9 Million is marketeers’ loan scheme.
