Itezhi-Tezhi Member of Parliament has disclosed that works on the construction of a 1×3 classroom block at Basanga Community School are progressing well.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Twaambo Mutinta said the school is one of the three projects that were identified under 2021 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and a solar powered borehole which is estimated at around K700, 000.
Mr. Mutinta stated that Itezhi-Tezhi district has a total of 307 classrooms in 116 schools against a pupil population of 32,538, adding that his office remains committed to increasing classroom space by 30% by 2023 and reduce the distance to schools from the current 12 kilometers to about 6 kilometers.
“There is significant progress in terms of CDF implementation. Our priority was to quickly execute 2021 CDF the funds which we received in November. I am glad to report that one of the key priorities in our projects as Itezhi-Tezhi is to increase the classroom space and also to ensure that we increase the number of staff houses in the rural areas.”
“So far, from the three projects that were identified under CDF 2021, Basanga Community School a 1×3 classroom block and a solar powered borehole which is estimated at around K700, 000 is progressing very well,” Mr. Mutinta said.
He further said the local contractors that have been engaged are doing a good job, adding that the 1×3 classroom block is expected to be complete in the next 2 months.
“The local authority is on the ground to see to it that there is quality controls and the kind of progress we are seeing is overwhelming, and the local contractors that have been engaged are doing a good job, the communities are also excited and we anticipate that this 1×3 classroom block will be complete in the next 2 months and it is on schedule,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mutinta said the construction of a staff house at Mulubwe clinic is also progressing very well, as the project has so far reached slab well.
“The other piece of work that is happening is the construction of a house at Mulubwe clinic and this house is also progressing very well, and it has so far reached at slab well. So the speed and the quality, working closely with the Council, we are happy and we strongly feel we are on track,” Mr. Mutinta stated.
