Kwacha gains should benefit consumers – BuyZed

• This is to ensure that consumers begin to enjoy what is produced locally.
• Manufactures should take advantage of this and begin to produce more.
• Government must be commended for the strides that they are making to ensure that they stabilize the Kwacha.

BuyZed campaign has called on retailers and manufacturers of various commodities to pass on the benefits of the appreciation of the Kwacha to consumers.
Organization Founder Evans Ngoma told Money FM News that this is in a bid to encourage consumption of local products for the betterment of the economy.
Mr. Ngoma emphasized the need to embrace value addition in order to create more jobs creation and grow the economy.
“We would like to urge the retailers and producers of various commodities to pass over the benefits of the appreciation of the Kwacha to the consumers so that we can begin to enjoy what is produced locally here in Zambia.”
“This is unprecedented, so let us take advantage of this and begin to produce more. Issues of value addition are what excite us, because then job creation becomes eminent. So buy local to grow our economy and create more jobs in Zambia,” Mr. Ngoma stated.
He commended government for making notable strides towards ensuring that the country has a stable currency.
“We commend government for the strides that they are making to ensure that they stabilize our Kwacha. So this is what is going to happen now, if we have been spending K40, 000 to procure raw materials, it means that this time around, we will only spend K31, 000.”
“The saved amount can now be used to improve business operations or be channeled to other business requirements to enhance productivity,” he said.
The Zambian Kwacha has continued posting gains as it is currently trading at K22 to a dollar.
