• The businessman has been preparing 2 and 5 liters of Juice drinks branded ‘Feel Good’ at Zimba main market using uncertified ingredients.
• Officers managed to suspect confiscate the suspected counterfeit drinks packed in 2 liters and 5 liters.

Zimba Town Council has confiscated 172 bottles of suspected counterfeit juice produced in unsanitary conditions and without any legal documents.

In a statement, Council Assistant Public Relations Officer, Mastone Monze explained that a combined team of officers from the District Health Office, Council and State police pounced on a shop belonging to a local businessman.

Mr. Zimba said the businessman, identified as Mushiba Chingundu, has been preparing 2 and 5 liters of Juice drinks branded ‘Feel Good’ at Zimba main market using uncertified ingredients.

“The operation was effected after a tip off from the members of the community regarding a bitter drink that has been on the market supplied by the said Mr. Chingundu,” Mr. Monze stated.

He added that the officers managed to suspect confiscate the suspected counterfeit drinks packed in 2 liters and 5 liters.

“The businessman was later apprehended and surrendered to Zimba police post for further investigations after it was discovered that his business was running without any legal documents from the Council, contrary to Statutory Instrument No. 20 0f 2020 and sections 9,11 and 13 of the Food safety act No.7 of 2019 of the laws of Zambia,” he added.

Mr. Monze further encouraged entrepreneurs to always follow laid down procedures in establishing business entities to avoid being in conflict with the law.
