The Agricultural Commercial Society of Zambia (ACSZ) has disclosed that the 94th Agricultural Commercial show which was scheduled for this year has been cancelled in light of the Covid-19 global pandemic.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka, Society President Cosmas Michelo said the society found it prudent to cancel the premier show as a way of following the public health regulations issued by government in order to stop the spread of the Virus.
“The Agricultural Commercial Society of Zambia regrets to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Agricultural Commercial Show due to the prevailing global pandemic caused by the Coronavirus or commonly known as COVID-19,” he said.
Mr. Michelo noted that the show deals with thousands of participants from different community business fraternity and foreign delegates which brings live events with face to face interactions through mass gatherings.
He says the society is committed to strictly follow the pubic t health guidelines such as social distancing, avoid overcrowding and embracing hygiene practices.
Mr. Michelo further disclosed that this year’s Show was slated for the 29th July to 23rd August under the theme ‘Innovation through Technology.’
“This has been a very painful decision for the Board and myself but it is in the interest of our exhibitors, stakeholders and the general public,” he said.
The Society President said the year 2020 will go down in history alone with 1941 to 1944 as the only years when the show was not held.
