60 thousand cashew nuts small scale farmers to benefit grants -CEEC.

The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission CEEC says about 60 thousand cashew nut small scale farmers will this year benefit from grants under the ministry of Agriculture to set up cashew nut plantations.
CEEC Director General likando Mukumbuta has told money FM News in interview that the commission in partnership with the ministry of Agriculture will disburse about 2 million kwacha under the marching grants project in 10 districts of western province.
“The project will be implemented in the 10 districts of western province because that is where the cashew infrastructure development project is being implemented,” He said.
He says that the project is aimed at promoting value addition to the cashew nut crop.
Mr Mukumbuta says the project will also make funds available for small scale cashew nut farmers that want to expand their plantations, as well as those that want to set up commercial cashew nut nurseries and those that want to be exporting the crop.
He says the project is one of the major deliverables the commission this year.
