ZIPAR asks govt to give ‘Eurobond refinancing’ details

The Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) has advised the government through the Ministry of Finance and State House to give further guidance and details regarding the proposed refinancing of the US$750 million Eurobond.
ZIPAR Research Fellow Ceaser Cheelo says this is because researchers do not have further details on the proposed refinancing program as they only learnt about it in the media.
Mr. Cheelo says the government ought to come out clear on this matter as there is only scant information in the press.
Mr. Cheelo says the government on the other hand should be cautious in looking for a financier of the debt.
He says it is also imperative that the government through the Ministry of Finance should disclose the timetable of refinancing the bond as well as provide the available options of this program.
