Zambia has potential to feed itself and 460 000 000 other people

Zambeef Products Chief Executive Officer Francis Grogan says Zambia has potential to feed itself and the wider SADC and COMESA region of 460 000 000 people.

Mr. Grogan has also shared Zambia’s positive agricultural sector outlook at this year’s Africa-Ireland Economic Forum (AIEF). In a keynote speech, he described the country’s potential to feed itself and the wider SADC/COMESA region of 460 million people.

He says Zambia can feed itself and its neighbors with appropriate attention and investment as opposed to importing some of the foods that it currently imports.

Mr. Grogan has highlighted the opportunities available for countries to engaged in agriculture and agro processing with the United Nations projecting an increase in food demand from US$8 billion in 2017 to US$25 billion in 2032, owing to the region’s growing population.
