Fundanga urges Zambia to widen export base

Intra African Trade Fair Ambassador Dr. Caleb Fundanga says Zambia has a lot of products to export outside the country apart from Copper.
Speaking at the Intra African Trade Fair workshop for the business community in Lusaka, Dr. Fundanga says Zambia can also export maize when the country records a surplus harvest.
The country has a variety of rice that it can be exported to West Africa which depends on this commodity as a staple food.
He says the country can also increase on the export of sugar following the opening of Kasama sugar.
Dr. Fundanga, who is also former Bank of Zambia Governor, says Zambia can also export Kapenta to the outside world which is in dire need of this product.
He says the country can earn a lot of revenue from such exports.
He has noticed that it’s only through export success that Zambia can became a prosperous middle income country by 2030.
