Zambia Airways will be profitable, assures Minister

The Ministry of Transport and Communications says it is confident of getting a share from the US$1.5 billion aviation industry once Zambian Airways is relaunched.
Transport and Communications Minister Brian Mushimba says it is unfortunate that some stakeholders feel that the airline will be operating at a loss.
Mr. Mushimba says the Zambia Airways will be operated as a budget airline to attract more customers.
He says President Edgar Lungu has directed his office to ensure that only qualified people will be employed to manage the operations of the airline.
“There is a market for us to make money, all we have to do is to have professionals and good policies. I can assure you that the Zambia Airways will be a successful project and those who are castigating us will come to apologize after seeing results,” he assured.
He has also emphasized that there will be no government interference in the running of the country’s flag carrier.
