Govt invests US$20m in medical stores

President Edgar Lungu says Government and cooperating partners have invested over US$20 million in steady infrastructure for the medical stores limited.
President Lungu says this is because the current 40 year old infrastructure is insufficient because demand for medicine has increased over the years.
He has noted that Medical stores limited is serving about 927, 000 people currently accessing antiretroviral treatment.
The Head of State was speaking when he commissioned the US$2 million Mpika Medical Hub that will cater for Muchinga Province today.
President Lungu has also disclosed that Government and cooperating partners will this year invest in the construction medical hubs in Mongu and Kabompo districts to carter for Western and North Western Provinces respectively.
He says once the construction of the medical hubs is completed in all provinces in the country, they will meet the country’s storage capacity needs for the 15 to 20 years.
