Govt urged to invest more in agric sector

The National Union for Small-Scale Farmers of Zambia has called for more investment in the agriculture sector.
The union has further observed the need to promote mechanization by way of supporting the farmers with modern agricultural equipment.
Union Director General Dr. Frank Kayula says with the challenges that have come as a result of the changes in the weather patterns, it is important that farmers are helped by all stakeholders.
Dr. Kayula said this when he featured on Money FM Business Radio’s Power, Policy and Money that airs every Mondays and Thursdays at 9hrs.
Dr. Kayula said there is also need to promote smart agriculture in Zambia in order for the agriculture sector to contribute to the economic development of the country.
He said stakeholders should help farmers in getting modern equipment adding that hoes should be archived now.
Dr. Kayula said it is not a secret that the dry spells are having a huge impact on production.
