Zambia has remained a top destination for FDI – Mvunga

Deputy Secretary to Cabinet Christopher Mvunga says Zambia has remained a top destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
Mr. Mvunga says Zambia has continued to attract huge investment interests in different sectors of the economy.
He notes that the growing investor confidence in Zambia is exhibited by the growing number of power generating projects in the energy sector.
Mr. Mvunga says there is no doubt that Zambia is one of the best destinations for investments owing to wide interest to invest in the tourism sector particularly in the northern circuit.
He adds that Zambia’s transportation sector had also attracted alot of interest among investors just like the agriculture sector.
Mr. Mvunga was speaking in Midrand, South Africa when he graced the launch of the Zambia Association in South Africa Sourcing and Logistics Truck Business, a subsidiary company for the Association of Zambians in South Africa (ZASA).
And Mr. Mvunga says Zambians in diaspora have demonstrated that they are capable of participating in the entrepreneurship agenda which government was promoting.
He said the establishment of a trucking company by ZASA was demonstration that Zambians were ready to respond to business opportunities.
Mr. Mvunga assured the Association of government’s support to ensure that the newly created company was a leader in the trucking industry between Zambia and South Africa.
He further urged the company’s board of directors to set up strong governance mechanisms that would ensure accountability and transperancy in order to protect the interest of its members.
Speaking at the same function, ZASA President Ferdinard Simaanya said he was happy that the Zambian community in South Africa had come together to start a business.
He thanked members of ZASA for showing confidence in the company by injecting cash and other resources to make it operational.
