Digital arts industry competition is unfortunate in Zambia

A young entrepreneur in the digital arts industry says it is unfortunate that that there is competition in the industry in Zambia as players do not want to work together.
Epic Arts Director Mwaaba Mugala says the industry is still very young in Zambia and is at a stage where people should work together to grow it as opposed to being in competition.
Mr. Mugala says “there’s no industry so there’s nothing your’re competing for, so its better to just work together and expand, but a lot of people want to be the first one to be known which I think is derailing them from the bigger picture”.
Zambia is on track in competing with the rest of the world in the digital space as seen from the various innovations being undertaken by local entrepreneurs and the investments being made by the government and other stakeholders to drive economic growth technological enhancement.
Deputy Secretary to Cabinet Christopher Mvunga earlier this year announced that government has far invested over K1.4 billion in digital infrastructure development with a view of being in tandem with digital technology.
And other local media reports quoted World Bank country manager for Zambia Sahr Kpundeh affirming the Bank’s commitment using opportunities provided by digital technologies to achieve Africa’s transformation as reflected in its corporate strategic initiative called Digital Economy for African Initiative.
