No fuel shortage complaints received – ZACCI

• We did not receive any queries on the shortage of fuel on the market.
• A spot check at various fuel stations reviewed that the stations have the commodity in stock.
• Most manufactures are still using old fuel stocks to transport the commodities.

Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) says it has not received any complaints about fuel shortages from industries in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Chamber President Dr. Jerome Kawesha said despite the anticipated fuel shortage in some parts of the country, manufactures have not had any challenges in transporting their goods to the market.
Dr Kawesha said this is because most manufactures are still using old fuel stocks to transport the commodities.
“At the secretariat we did not receive any queries to say industries are not operating due to the lack of fuel on the market,” he said.
And Dr Kawesha adds that a spot check at most fuel stations in the country by the organization has reviewed that the stations have the commodity in stock.
“From our finding there is no fuel shortage, but there was just an anticipated fuel shortage and fear that they will be a fuel shortage in the county, in our consultations we asked industries to give a feedback if they are experiencing fuel shortages but we did not receive any,” he said.
For some time now there has been an anticipated fuel shortage in some parts of the country but the Ministry of Energy has assured that the anticipated fuel shortage in the country will normalize by the end of this week.
