6, 941 active cases as 16 succumb to Covid-19

• 11, 962 tests conducted in last 24 hours.
• 9 Covid-19 deaths, 2 associated and 5 pending classification
• Country now stands at 6, 941 active cases.

The Ministry of Health says the country has in the last 24 hours recorded 1, 289 new positive Covid-19 cases out of 11, 962 tests conducted with 16 deaths.
In a statement made available to Money FM News, Health Minister Dr. Jonas Chanda said that of the cases recorded, 468 are from Lusaka, 228 in the Copperbelt, 174 form North Western, 142 from Central, 57 in Western, 54 in Eastern, 468 from Luapula, 45 from Southern, 39 in Northern and 32 in Muchinga Provinces.
Dr. Chanda further explained that of the deaths recorded, nine have been classified as Covid-19 deaths while two are associated mortalities and five are pending to be classified.
He disclosed that Copperbelt and Lusaka provinces recorded five mortalities each, two are from Northern while Central, Eastern, Muchinga and Western Province recorded one death each.
The minister said the country now stands at 6, 941 active cases with 6,449 under community management while 492 are admitted in health care facilities with 308 under oxygen therapy and 48 in critical condition.
Dr. Chanda has since urged citizens and partners to not yield to the pandemic but instead continue their efforts in fighting it.
