6 industrial yards completed

• To enhance Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) growth
• Two more industrial yards to be completed by April this year.

Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) says it has completed the construction of six industrial yards as part of the program to enhance Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) growth through the development of industrial clusters in Zambia’s light manufacturing subsector.
Speaking in an interview, with Money FM News, CEEC Public Relations and Communications Manager, Michelo Mukata, disclosed that construction of two more industrial yards in the Lusaka South Multi Facility Economic Zone and Mansa district will be completed by April this year which will bring the total number of industrial yards to 8 countrywide.
Mr. Mukata also disclosed that the Commission is running a call for applications, until 31st March 2021, for targeted citizens and companies to apply for the occupation of the completed industrial yard in Kitwe and soon to be completed in Kafue and Mansa districts.
“As a follow up to the completion of construction and for quick operationalization of the yards, the CEEC Board has so far approved business loans for 18 SMEs to procure machinery and operate in the Mongu and Chipata industrial yards, and the Commission is also mobilizing funds for the operationalization of the other six (6) yards”, he said.
