Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has put in place a pre clearance system that enables Transporters to clear their goods five days before they reach any Border post in an effort to reduce congestion at the entry points.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Authority Corporate Communications Manager Topsy Sikalinda said ZRA has noted that some of the transporters have a tendency of clearing their goods when they reach the borders causing long queues, hence the need for them to embrace the pre-clearance system.
Mr. Sikalinda encouraged transporters of various goods to ensure that all permit processes are done before reaching the borders.
He said the authority will not allow transporters to reach the newly commissioned Kazungula Border post without proper documentation, adding that a penalty fee will be charged for all transporters who decide to stay at the border for more than 9 days.
“There are a number of issues that cause transporters to queue up in Borders among them are goods permit,” Mr. Sikalinda disclosed.
He stated that the authority will not allow transporters to reach the newly commissioned Kazungula Borders post without proper documentation.
Mr. Sikalinda further announced that a penalty fee will be charged for all transporters who decide to stay at the boarder for more than 9 days even when they are done with clearance.
“Track drivers have a habit of parking their tracks at the borders even when they are done with clearance to avoid track parking charges,” he said.
