Ministry of Information to start Private Media Familiarization tours

• The ministry has so far done about 80 percent of familiarization tours on public institutions.
• The Ministry is in charge for both The Private and Public Media houses in the country.
• Government is looking at Access to Information Bill as Priority.

Ministry of Information and Media has revealed that it will soon start familiarization tours of all private Media houses across the country.

Ministry Permanent Secretary Kennedy Kalunga told Money FM News in an interview that the tour is aimed at knowing locations for private media houses, what they are doing and how they are handling employee warfare, “that has been our concern as a Ministry.”

Mr. Kalunga noted that the ministry had so far done about 80 percent of familiarization tours on public institutions since the New Administration had been in office with the Minister of Media and Information Chushi Kasanda.

He emphasized that the Ministry is in charge of both the Private and Public Media houses in the country.

“Since we have been in Office for the last five months as a new dawn government we are looking at our in-house and within this end of five months we will start familiarization tour of all the private media houses,” he said.

Mr. Kalunga further indicated that the Access to Information Bill process has begun and it is at another level, stating that government is looking at it as a priority.

“The New dawn government is looking at this as a priority,” said the Permanent Secretary further indicating that President Hakainde Hichilema has emphasized that there should be the Access to Information Bill.

Mr. Kalunga pointed out that government will see to it that the media is free to regulate themselves.

He also assured Zambians that the new administration will rule the nation using the Rule of Law.
