Copper Queens versus Ireland friendly match confirmed

  • Zambia and Ireland will meet for the first time ever on June 22

  • Copper Queens will make their World Cup debut

Copper Queens will take on Ireland in an international friendly match set for Thursday, June 22 at Tallaght Stadium, Dublin.

This is part of both team’s build up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 to be co-hosted by Australia/New Zealand.

Zambia and Ireland will meeting for the first ever as Ireland take on their second African opposition after a 4-0 win over Morocco. Ireland will play Nigeria in Group B in Brisbane.

Zambia coach Bruce Mwape is expected to acquaint his squad with the European flair in the Irish side. The Copper Queens will play Spain in their Group C fixture in New Zealand.

Ireland are currently ranked 23rd in the world while Zambia stands 81st in the world.

Zambia finished third in the WAFCON, beating Nigeria 1-0 in the 3rd-Place game to qualify for the maiden World Cup.
