Absa Bank Zambia launches WhatsApp Banking

Absa Bank Zambia says it remains dedicated to finding differentiated transactional banking propositions to meet the evolving needs of its customers by providing innovative, digitised products delivered through personalised service.

Absa Retail Banking Director Harton Maliki told Money FM News in a statement, that it is in this vain that the Bank has launched an innovative transactional banking solution, ‘dubbed’ Chat Banking capability on WhatsApp, which features Abby, a secure, smart, digital assistant that helps customers bank safely at all times.

Mr. Maliki stated that the upgraded way of banking uses a conversational platform which will enable customers to have the opportunity to carry out their day to day transactions on WhatsApp.

“We are excited to launch an upgraded way of banking using a conversational platform where customers will have the opportunity to now carry out their day to day transactions all on WhatsApp. In recent times, we have seen the rise of innovations that are slowly transforming the way the banking industry operates. In addition, COVID-19 continues to change the way our customers interact with the bank. Through our Chat Banking capability, we are serving our customers’ transaction needs in real-time, conveniently and safely across the African continent.”

“Abby is a fast learner, meaning the more you chat, the better your banking experience gets, it is another digital innovation that helps you get things done,” Mr. Maliki said.

He explained that in order to be able to transact on Chat Banking, customers are required to use their online log-in details, adding that Absa’s goal is to become a digitally-led financial partner, as the bank believes in creating opportunities for its customers.

“The key functionalities offered by Chat Banking include checking your account balances for your cheque, current, savings or credit card accounts, make payments to existing beneficiaries, make bill payments including Airtime top-up, check your transaction history and search for transactions, make inter-account transfers, review your account Information.” “Following our successful transition to Absa, our goal is to become a digitally-led financial partner.  We believe in creating opportunities for our customers as we bring their possibilities to life.
