• Local manufacturers must emulate Tanzania in the production of sun screen lotions.

Albinism Foundation of Zambia (AFZ) has called on local manufacturers to emulate Tanzania in the production of sunscreen lotions to make them affordable for people living with albinism.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Foundation Executive Director John Chiti said the provision of sun screen is alarmingly poor across Africa, hence the need to promote locally produced lotions.
Mr. Chiti stated that entrepreneurs who are already making soaps and Lotions should explore and tap into the knowledge of neighboring Tanzania and learn how to produce such products.
“This is a business opportunity for investors in Zambia to invest in production of sun screen lotions as government is importing these lotions from outside the country,” Mr. Chiti said.
Mr. Chiti stated that once a local manufacturing company starts to manufacture the lotions, there will be demand for such a business because over 30,000 people living with albinism in the country will be buying the product.
“This is an opportunity window for local manufacturers to take up this task because there is no competition in this business as no manufacturer is producing the lotion locally,” he added.
He explained that the lotion is not only used by people living with albinism but white people as well because it protects them from the sun rays.
Mr. Chiti added that once this is achieved, there will be a lot of job opportunities in the country as well as a boost to the country’s revenue reserves.
