• AVAP calls for a national program for more voter education
• High number of rejected votes shows inadequate Voter education in the country.
• Zambians need to be engaged on how to mark ballot papers to avoid wastage

Anti- Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has called for an intensified national voter education program, following the high number of rejected ballots in the recent General Elections.
AVAP Executive Director Richwell Mulwani told Money FM News in an interview that Zambians need to be engaged on how to mark ballot papers to avoid wastage.
“We have observed that a number of people do not know how to mark ballot papers, other people dropped the ballot papers in the ballot box without marking on any candidate,” he said.
Mr Mulwani said the high number of rejected votes shows inadequate Voter education in the country which must be comprehensive from now onwards.
He noted that a national program for voter education will ensure that correct information is disseminated to the general public.
“Whatever information that has been provided on voting to the public from the Electoral Commission of Zambia and the civil society organizations should be given the attention that it deserves,” he urged.
He has appealed to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to see to it that there is adequate voter Education in the country before heading towards the next general elections.
There has been 124,906 of rejected Votes in this year’s General Election who did not correctly mark on their preferred Candidate.
