Cannabis Bill approval elates ZamHemp

• The Association is very excited that this has happened.
• MPs should support the bill so that it comes into fruition.
• Sinkamba happy that government has finally decided to implement one of the Green Party policies.

Zambian Hemp Growers and Industries Association (ZamHemp) has urged Members of Parliament to support the Cannabis Bill 2021 once it is introduced in the House.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association President Peter Sinkamba said the association is looking forward to all Members of Parliament supporting the bill so that it comes to fruition.
Mr. Sinkamba, who is also Green Party President, stated that it is the Association’s hope that both the Cannabis bill and Industrial Hemp bill will be supported so that the country can start generating revenue from Cannabis.
“We are very excited that this has happened, at least we know that one of our policies is now going for implementation, and we look forward to all Members of Parliament supporting the bill so that it comes into fruition.”
“There are two bills actually, there is the Cannabis bill and Industrial Hemp bill and we hope both will be supported so that we can start making billions of dollars from Cannabis both industrial and medicinal,” Mr. Sinkamba said.
He added that it is gratifying to note that government has finally decided to implement one of the Green Party policies which is the legalization of Cannabis for medicinal and industrial purposes.
“It’s a good thing that government has finally decided to implement one of the Green Party policies which is the legalization of Cannabis for medicinal and industrial purposes. We are excited that it has happened and we are looking forward to working with government to make sure that this policy position is a very big success,” he added.
On Monday this week, Cabinet approved for introduction in Parliament the Cannabis Bill 2021, which seeks to allow for cultivation of marijuana for medicinal and other purposes.
