The King of Barotseland says experiences gathered at the 6th World Cashew Nut Convention and Exhibitions will culminate in in a successful industry in Western Province.
In a statement issued to Money FM News, his Majesty Litunga Lubosi Imwiko the second said the 2020 World Cashew Convention which was held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, was instrumental in helping shape understanding of the immense opportunities that lie when Zambia develops a successful cashew industry.
And Western Province Minister Richard Kapita said the experience was valuable for the country as his entourage had an opportunity to meet global policy makers and players dealing with Cashew and shared best practices and experiences.
Mr. Kapita stated that “the trip was enriching to the technocrats working on ensuring that cashew nut industry became a viable sub sector and empowered local communities in Zambia.”
He disclosed that he had an opportunity to meet with processing equipment suppliers, keen to bring the business to Zambia.
The Conference is a global platform for the cashew industry to meet, discuss and network, and offers a platform to discuss global issues concerning the cultivation, value addition and trade of Cashew and it attracted delegates from thirty six countries.
Government in its quest to revive the industry has started with over 60,000 cashew farmers in Western Province.
