CCPC appeals for patience from consumers

Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has appealed to consumers to be patient and considerate with businesses that have outstanding refunds during this difficult unprecedented period.

CCPC Executive Director Chilufya Sampa told Money FM News in an interview that in the recent times the commission has recorded many complaints from consumers demanding refunds from businesses in the hospitality sector such as hotels and restaurants due to canceled events.
“We are appealing to the consumers to exercise patience during this unprecedented time,” he said.
Mr. Sampa added that despite consumers being in the right position of complaint, most sectors especially in the hospitality sector have been hard hit by the economic shutdown caused by the pandemic.
“In order for us to be in a win-win situation, consumers and traders should reach mutual agreement of understanding as Covid-19 has affected everyone,” Mr. Sampa.
He has since advised consumers to be patient and understanding as most enterprises are still working on getting back on their feet post Covid-19.
