The Africa Consumer Union (ACU) says the competition and consumer Protection Commission CCPC should Live up to their Mandate and curtail the increasing number of Restrictive business Practices on the Market.
ACU First Vice President Muyunda Ililonga says the market needs to be open for new entrants in all sectors and that the economy Needs to be competitive.
He says this following the reports from the CCPC saying that the number of Restrictive Business Practices increased in Zambia.
Mr. Ililonga was speaking in a telephone interview with Money FM News In Lusaka.
Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) says 2018 saw an increase in the number of Restrictive Business Practices cases it handled.
The commission also says it investigated a total of sixty-four cases out of which nineteen were carried forward from 2017 and forty-five were reported new cases.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka CCPC Director of Consumer Protection Brian Lingela says the commission closed on a total of 39 of the cases investigated.
