National Association for Small and Medium Scale Contractors says the increase in Cement prices will have a negative economic impact and affect the profits of construction companies.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association General Secretary Danny Simumba says the increase will see an increment in the price of construction projects because cement is one of the main materials used in construction.
“Whenever there is an increment in the price of cement, the negative impact is too huge because it affects the profits of construction companies,” he said.
“Cement is one of the main materials that go into the construction of most infrastructural projects such as roads, bridges and buildings.”
Mr Simumba adds that the increment is a challenge because it affects the profit made by the contractor and delays the completion of projects.
“When there is an increment, the price of construction projects goes up and makes the project stall,” he added.
