The Central Province Administration has signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese firm Jiangxi industrial investment to operationalize the construction the Chibombo district Multi Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ).
This follows the agreement that was signed between Jiangxi Province and the Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry to set up the MFEZ at a cost of 600 million dollars last year.
Central Province Permanent Secretary Bernard Chomba says the province is ready to support the Chinese firm to ensure that the economic zone is completed and benefits both provinces.
Mr. Chomba says the objective of the agreement is to ensure facilitation of the establishment of the Industrial Park in the district
The agreement was signed during the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation which was held between 25 and 27 April, 2019 in Beijing.
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is an initiative for international economic cooperation launched by President Xi Jinping in 2013.
Mr. Chomba signed the agreement on behalf of the province while Jiangxi Corporations president Xu Guojian signed for the Chinese firm.
Mr Xu has also requested Mr Chomba to identify a charitable organization in the Province for the firm to make a donation ranging from US$100,000 to US$150,000.
