A lawmaker in Ndola says works on the construction of the first-ever police station is his constituency are on course.
Bwana Mukubwa Member of Parliament Dr Jonas Chanda tells Money FM News that the first-ever Police station in the Constituency is being constructed in Mushili township at a cost of K1.1 million from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) adding that in excess, the project will cost about K4 million.
Dr Chanda added that the major financial support is being lobbied from the business community in Ndola adding that the design plan for the Cross-shaped modern police station is from the Ministry of Home Affairs Headquarters in Lusaka.
“One of the major campaign promises I made to the great people of Bwana Mkubwa Constituency was a modern Police Station since it is the only Constituency in Ndola without a Police Station.”
He said Security has been a huge historical challenge in the constituency with increasing crime levels in the midst of a rapidly growing population, hence the first need of any society is security, and the first duty of any Government is to provide security for its citizens by protecting their lives and property.
“This is also the first modern police station in Ndola and will house all key Police Services such as Traffic, Community Police, Intelligence, Victim Support Unit, Interrogations, CID, Armory, Exhibit/Found/Lost Items, Administrative Offices, and 4 JAILS, and 2 Adult Cells,” he stated.
Dr Chanda thanked the business community in Ndola for donating various building materials as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
