The launch of the construction works for the TAZARA Memorial Park in Chongwe has been set for the 13th May 2019.
China Civil General Manager, An Haitao has disclosed that China Civil, formerly known as Foreign Aid Department of Ministry of Railways of China, has been chosen by the Chinese government to construct the TAZARA Memorial Park, a project in memory of 36 Chinese engineers and technicians who died during the construction of TAZARA and other China-aided projects at the same time.
Mr. Haitao said that China Civil has received blessings and support from various stakeholders in Chongwe District to commence the construction works.
Mr. Haitao said this during a joint health campaign held at the project site of TAZARA Memorial Park in Chongwe. He said that such collaborative efforts are testimony to the unbreakable friendship between China and Zambia and demonstrated the intention to continue with the spirit forged during TAZARA construction project.
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (Zambia) Limited decided to join hands with China Medical Team in Zambia to give free medical checkup to the local people of Chongwe where 20 Chinese medical professionals showcased their expertise through all kinds of medical checkups that were given to the people of Chongwe.
Since 1978, Henan Province of China has successively sent 20 medical teams of 546 medics to Zambia conducting medical practice in fields like neurology, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, intracardiac, gastroenterology, endocrinology, maternity, pediatrics, ENT, anesthesia, imaging intervention, Chinese acupuncture and clinical nursing.
They have diagnosed and treated more than 3 million patients, carried out more than 20,000 operations of all kinds including highly risky operations including heart, brain and removal of huge tumors, brought in more than 600 new technologies and programs. The cooperation in public health has become the witness of China- Zambia friendship.
And Mr. Godffrey Luputa, Principle Advisor to Her Royal Highness Chieftainese Nkomeshya Mukamambo II was pleased with the event and said that such events are always welcome because they are beneficial to the community.
Mr Luputa urged China Civil to frequently organize medical checkups in order to help the local people access medical facilities and create awareness about various diseases.
