A Research Institute says the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries should not delay to actualize a memorandum of understanding with a Brazilian Livestock company to start the importation of Boven cattle, semen and embryos to heighten cattle breeding in Zambia.
Kaypro Research Institute Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Frank Kayula explains to Money FM in an interview that the livestock sector will benefit from the vast experience of Brazil which is the World’s largest exporter of beef.
Dr. Kayula notes that such bilateral relationships need to be supported and shared with small-scale farmers in order to create linkages that will enable livestock farmers benefit from the memorandum of understanding.

Brazil is the world’s largest exporter of beef and has a population of 232 million herd of cattle, exporting 1.3 million tonnes of meat in 2018 and earning revenue of $6.2 billion.
