Creation of new constituencies will stress economy.

Civil Society for Poverty Reduction says proposed creation of new constituencies will put stress on the already stressed economy.

Organization Board Member Partner Siabutuba said in an interview with Money FM News that this is evidenced from challenges by government to release constituency development fund for 2019.

Mr Siabutuba laments that most of the constituencies in the country are still under developed and creating more will make it difficult for government to deliver on various services.

“Zambia has enough constituencies and what is need is for government to ensure that constituency development fund is released on time so that they are developed with the much needed infrastructure and services” He said.

Government under bill ten is proposing for the creation of more constituencies in a quest to accelerate development in the country.
And Mr Siabutuba says government in 2019 did not do enough to create sustainable jobs.
Mr Siabutuba this is shown from how small and medium scale business have suffered from long hours of load shedding.

“The agriculture sector which is the largest employer in the country has not employed enough people due to changes in the weather” He said.
He adds that even the mining industry the Secord largest employer decided to down size on their works as a result of eternal and externally effects.
