CSPR regrets the widening gap between the rich and the poor

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction-CSPR has expressed concern over the widening gap between the rich and the poor in the country.

CSPR Board Chairperson Isaac Ngoma says poverty remains one of the biggest challenges in the country with the absolute poor accounting for over forty percent of the population.

Mr Ngoma has described the situation as sad citing that women and children are the most affected.

Mr Ngoma says this following the commemoration of the international day for the eradication of poverty under the theme “coming together with those furthest behind to build an inclusive world of universal respect for human rights and dignity”.

Mr. Ngoma says calls for more practical action in overcoming the nation’s socio-economic challenges and enhancing interventions that will move citizens out of poverty.

He notes that his institution observe the world and the nation continue to issue policy documents and speeches with politically correct language of eradicating poverty and ensuring no one is left behind yet the reality is mostly different.
