CUTS advocates for Fuel Fund

The Consumer Unit Trust Society (CUTS) International Zambia has urged Government to establish a special fund to cushion the country from effects of high fuel prices on international market.
The society is urging the Zambian government to emulate Kenya that has taken that route.
The Kenyan Government this week announced that it is planning to establish a special fund to cushion the country from the effects of rising crude prices on the international market.
CUTS Zambia Center Coordinator Chenai Mukumba tells Money FM News that the Zambian Government should be planning for a fund that will ensure rising prices do not have dire consequences for the local market.
“Recently we saw increase in fuel prices, they are very high that the consumers have never been subjected to. We need to be coming up with initiatives to respond to such shocks,” she said.
She says the government need to look at alternative measures to cushion the poor Zambians whenever the fuel prices go up
