ECL urges Zambians to support ‘Proudly Zambia’ campaign

President Edgar Lungu has implored Zambians to embrace and support the ‘Proudly Zambia’ campaign by buying locally produced products.
The Head of State said this in parliament when he addressed the House on National Values and Principles.
The President says this will increase the uptake of local products and eventually grow the manufacturing sector.
He has also urged Members of Parliament to support Cyber Laws that are expected to be tabled before parliament soon.
President Lungu further implored Zambians to be responsible in the use of cyber space.
He said the government has heavily invested in infrastructure across the country and that Zambians should safeguard it.
“Let us all say No to vandalism,” he said on the floor of the House.
The Head of State has also taken time to encourage local contractors to embrace the culture of hard work and good business ethics.
“You must always endeavor to deliver on your contractual obligations if you have to win the confidence of the people. This way you will stop complaining of being sidelined in preference to foreign contractors,” he said.
He has further observed the need to enhance patriotism amongst the local contractors.
“Government is, therefore, providing training to local contractors to enable them deliver high quality infrastructure works. The training is also aimed at inculcating a sense of patriotism. In 2018, 1, 920 contractors were trained,” said the Head of State.
In the health sector, President Lungu has disclosed that 14 health posts were completed in 2018 bringing the total number of health posts completed and operation to 289 out of 650 health posts.
