Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) says it has reduced the results verification fee from K100 to K10 regardless of the number of certificates being verified.
Speaking at a media briefing, Council Director Dr. Michael Chilala said this is in recognition that most people seeking to verify their results for the purpose of applying for employment during the 30,000 teacher recruitment announced by Government have been out of employment for a long time and may find it difficult to pay for verification.
He stated that all applicants will be required to pay the K10 verification fee using various mobile money platforms and attach proof of payment to the applications.
“This is in recognition of the fact that most applicants have been out of employment for long periods and may therefore have difficulties meeting the normal Verification Fee of K100 per copy.”
“Applicants are therefore required to Pay the Non- Refundable Fee of K10 and attach the evidence of payment to the Application before they submit to ZAMPOST Offices,” Dr. Chilala said.
And Dr. Chilala stated that the country’s examinations body will verify every qualification for this teacher recruitment exercise, including results already verified because some people are forging verifications.
He stated that applicants do not need to verify their certificates before applying but submit them without verifying as ECZ will do the verification after applications have been submitted.
“We need to verify each and every qualification whether you verified yesterday or today, for this particular recruitment, you need to verify again and the reason is simple, we have observed that some of the people are forging the verification.”
“Submit your certificates without verifying because ECZ will do the verification after you have submitted and when we have received the applications. So all those crowds we saw at the service centre, if you went there to verify for the sake of teacher recruitment, save yourself that pressure, you do not need to verify before you submit,” he advised.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chilala clarified that a statement of results becomes null and void once the certificate is issued.
He said applicants applying for this year’s teacher recruitment must therefore submit their certificates because the documents are available up to 2020, while those who wrote General Certificate of Education (GCE) last year will need to submit a statement of results because their certificates are not yet ready.
“All applicants who are applying for this recruitment make sure that you submit your certificates because certificates are available up to 2020. Those who wrote GCE in 2021 will need to submit a statement of results because the certificates are not yet ready,” Dr. Chilala said.
Ministry of Education has advertised the recruitment of 30, 000 teachers this year and the advert will run until 15th April, 2022.
