Billionaire Elon Musk has set eyes on Zambian investment just a few hours after President Hakainde Hichilema had an engagement with the team from SpaceX and their Starlink team on sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States of America.

Elon Musk says he is looking forward to providing Starlink service to the people of Zambia.
Mr. Musk was replying to a Tweet by Special Assistant and advisor to President Hakainde Hichilema on Economic, Investment and Development Affairs Jito Kayumba who posted that President Hakainde Hichilema’s engagement with the team from SpaceX and their Starlink initiative will escalate Zambia’s position in the digital economy.

“Looking forward to providing Starlink service to the people of Zambia!” Mr. Musk wrote.

Mr. Kayumba added that this would also enable universal access to Internet and other technologies while indicating that he is Grateful for the initiative from visionary entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Elon Musk, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, is the richest person in the world with a net worth of $260 billion, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index.

Yesterday, 19th September President Hakainde Hichilema, revealed he held a meeting with Starlink, a firm whose focus is technology particularly Internet connectivity.

Mr. Hichilema said government intends to quickly sort out the country’s connectivity as this is the only way it can have a truly functional e-government of the 21st Century.

“We are working round the clock to ensure that facilities such as technology are put to great use so that jobs and business opportunities can be realized and this was what characterized our conversation with the Starlink Head, Mr Chad Gibbs today.”

In his Facebook Post, President Hichilema added that “we all know that good connectivity will also improve productivity thereby reducing the cost of doing business.”

While in office, we are ensuring that every opportunity and step we take, is done in the best interest of Zambia.”

The Head of State indicated that on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, the Zambian government will continue with these engagements which will ultimately lead to a better Zambia for all.
