Former Siavonga DC advises Marketeers to mask up

Former Siavonga District Commissioner has urged marketeers in Chirundu and Siavonga areas to mask up or stay away from trading in the streets and markets.
Lovemore Kanyama told Money FM News that there is also need for the State and Council Police as well as Health personnel from the two departments to seriously take drastic measures that will see Marketeers comply.
Mr. Kanyama stated that while he was still serving as District Commissioner, he supplied 6, 000 and 6,700 face masks to traders in Siavonga and Chirundu respectively, hence he does not expect marketeers to say that they are unable to buy face masks.
“I personally supplied 6, 000 and 6, 700 washable face masks to traders in Siavonga and Chirundu respectively washable, I know there are other organizations and individuals who also supplied face masks to these 2 Districts. I don’t expect Marketeers to say that they are unable to buy face masks, because I supplied to them,” Mr. Kanyama stated.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kanyama disclosed that Siavonga district has recorded 7 suspected Covid-19 cases.
He said this must be a wake-up call that something has gone wrong and therefore those entrusted with the responsibility to safeguard people’s lives should immediately call for an emergency meeting.
“The Seven 7 suspected COVID-19 cases recorded in Siavonga district must be a wakeup call that something has gone wrong somewhere, and I expected those entrusted to safeguard our lives to immediately call for an emergency meeting.”
“It is sad that Siavonga district does not have a COVID-19 Centre, this is very dangerous to the district. 7 months ago Siavonga District received 50 brand new mattresses and other materials to use once the district records a case, a COVID19 centre was also set up and to hear that Siavonga district is quarantining those suspected cases in their homes is shocking, disheartening and dangerous to the district and nation at large,” he said.
