Government clarifies its decision to revert to the conventional FISP system in Eastern Province

Government has clarified its decision of reverting to the conventional FISP system in some districts across Eastern Province province.

Speaking when he addressed a media briefing at his office, Provincial Permanent Secretary (PS) Chanda Kasolo said the decision was arrived at due to the chaos which was experienced on the E-voucher system last year.

Mr. Kasolo has since disclosed that 4 districts namely:Mambwe, Vubwi, Sinda and Nyimba have been maintained on the E-voucher system, while other districts will revert the conventional FISP.

The PS says government has listened to the cries of the farmers as the E-voucher system was marred by a lot of irregularities and loopholes.

Mr Kasolo notes that government is since working on a clear way on how farmers can benefit until all the loopholes encountered are corrected.
