Government funds Muzala Samukonga’s medical expenses

  • Sustained an injury on 14 July 2023
  • Government has released funds for his medical treatment
  • The Commonwealth champions is currently in Germany

Zambian sprinter Muzala Samukonga has revealed that he has received an undisclosed amount of money for his medical expense from Government through the Ministry of Sports.

On 14 July 2023, Samukonga sustained an injury which made him pull out of the race in Poland and his expected to undergo treatment while in Germany where the athletics team is currently camping.

Samukonga has disclosed that on 31st of July 2023, his management team received funds and have now started the process to book an appointment for his treatment.

“I would like to inform the nation that on the 31st of July 2023, we received the money for my treatment from the ministry of sports at exactly 22:00hrs (CAT),” Muzala said.

However, the Commonwealth Games champion did not disclose how long treatment will take but his hopeful that he will be back on track to prepare for the World Championships set to take place later this month.

“In as much as we don’t know how long the treatment and process will take we hope that I will be treated as soon as possible with the hopes and prayer of getting better and back on track for training before the world championships later this month,” he stated.
