Government to erect 1009 towers

Transport and Communication Minister has disclosed that government is to erect One thousand and Nine (1009) towers in phase two of the tower project in the country.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Katungu Mukwambuyu, Mutotwe Kafwaya said government has paid a lot of attention to enabling the communication set up.

Mr. Kafwaya said the recently connected tower in Musho area of Western province which is among the 708 towers that have so far been connected will help residents in the area to be fully connected to the rest of the country.

“I am also delighted that we could be able to do that but more also that Government by his Excellency Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu has paid lots of attention to enabling the setup in terms of communication.” He said.

He disclosed that he is in Western province for developmental programs within the Ministry of Transport and Communication.

Meanwhile Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Katungu Mukwambuyu expressed gratitude over the tower that was launched in Musho area of Sehsheke district.

“We are grateful that you have heard their cry and today you can talk to anyone that is in Musho.” He said.

Mr. Mukwambuyu said Musho is among the areas in the province which has lacked behind in terms development noting that the connection of the tower is a positive move that the people in the area have been calling for.
