Government urged to clear business arrears

The Africa Consumer Union has urged government to unlock arrears owed to the business community to increase productivity in the country.
Union first vice President Muyunda Ililonga says in an interview that this will ensure an increase in exports and help the country’s currency to strengthen in the long term.
Mr. Ililonga says there is a lot of money owed to business houses and needs to be paid back as soon as possible.
Experts have projected that the move by the Bank of Zambia to increase the statutory reserve ratio as a move to tame the currency will not be effective for long.
