The Center for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD) has appealed to the Ministry of Transport and Communications to publish the baseline survey that was done to relaunch the Zambia Airways.
The research and economic think tank has maintained that the National Airline is likely to continue operating at a loss given the current Zambia’s economic situation.
But Transport and Communications Minister Brian Mushimba has maintained that the relaunching of the airline will be a success
Center Executive Director Isaac Mwaipopo tells Money FM News that according to a study they conducted, it was established that this is not the appropriate time to relaunch the national airline due to fiscal space.
Mr. Mwaipopo maintains that the government should shelve this project until the country is economically stable.
He cautions that Zambia risks injecting in the project as it will not be able to make profits for quite some time.
He says Zambia should learn South Africa as their airline is are operating at a loss and relies on state funding.
