Office of the Vice President (OVP) has revealed plans of engaging the ministry of Tourism and Arts and Water Development and Sanitation to fence off an area in Chiawa for agriculture production.
Minister in the OVP Sylvia Chalikosa says the fencing is a long term plan to mitigate the hunger situation in the area adding that it does not make sense for an area surrounded by water to be experiencing hunger.
Ms. Chalikosa has pledged to sink five boreholes in the area as a short term measure to addressing the situation.
She has also advised the youths in the area to be innovative use the situation as an employment opportunity for income generation.
Ms. Chalikosa was speaking in Chiawa in Kafue District she and the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) took relief food to the hunger-stricken families.
Meanwhile the Minister has revealed that government has so far distributed a total of six thousand four hundred 12.5 Kilogram bags Millie Meal and five hundred and fifty bags of Maize Meal in relief food.
says there are over fourteen thousand people affected and government is only targeting to provide to the vulnerable who do not have any source of Income.
